Drummer Brendan Dougherty was born in 1978 in Philadelphia. He began performing in various jazz groups in the early 90’s and while studying at the University of the Arts he performed with such artists as James Moody, Grover Washington, Eddie Gomez and Jon Faddis.

As a founding member of the Meicht Group in 1998, Dougherty recorded three albums for Scrapple Records, and held a regular gig at the Knitting Factory, NYC and collaborated with artists such as Bobby Zankel and Toshi Makihara.

Brendan has been living in Berlin since 2002 where he performs with musicians such as Antonis Anissegos, Billy Bang, Johannes Haage and Kim Cascone. His own group, Bitted Dogs, has included among its members: Silke Eberhard, Hayden Chisholm, Derek Shirley, Antony Maubert and Antonis Anissegos.
